Spiral

Unraveled from this pleasant trance,
Where thoughts long resided happily -
The screw begins to twirl and dance;
Worked loose by wayward fantasy.

With clockwork ease, rotating there,
Sanity begins to warp and skew -
And smoky tendrils stretch into the foreign air,
As my mind's undone by the turning of the screw.
