Standing Still

Daily reality
    is such a bore to me;
I prefer to travel
    with my will.
         
         Inside of my head
              I have come so far,
         Although, you'll always believe
              that I'm standing still.

A constant puzzle-solver,
    draped in gentle silence -
I am idle in body, yet
    hyperactive in thought.
         
         Admiring our world,
              in its surreal beauty;
         From this broken body,
              in which I am caught.

Appearing ever-motionless,
    but I'm not inactive.
I am settled and calm -
    not languishing.
       
         You may think I spectate on life
              from the sidelines,
         But I'm actually busy -
              imagining.

Inspired by the beauty
    of invisible dancers,
Twirling and swirling
    in my memories;
       
         In the real world, I'm called
              an enigma, because
         I perceive unique things
              that no one else sees.

Through some magic, new wisdom
    sprouts inside of my being;
Like the flourishing seeds
    of some wondrous tree.
       
         As I contemplate
              carefully, methodically;
         My knowledge-garden's nurtured
              by the sights that I see.

So why would I suppress
    my mind's creations -
To pretend to be like
    every other soul around,
       
         When I've discovered the kind
              of enviable happiness
         That most other people
              Swear cannot be found?
